One of the liveliest restaurants in Gippsland is Big Spoon Little Spoon where the menu is sleek and contemporary, created by chef
Leigh Marino. Leigh is now the sole owner and he and his team are making their mark on the menu and the vibe within the restaurant dining room.
Leigh developed his skills in many of Melbourne’s great restaurants and internationally (ex-Oyster Little Bourke, Ristorante Cracco / Milan Italy, The Estelle). Leigh and his team serve a modern menu
sourced locally. He describes his food as grass roots and approachable. “We do what we know and we do it well, and consistently.”
In the coming months the menu will become warm and hearty to match the season; dishes may include duck and quince and feature
everyone’s favourite, seasonal mushrooms.
For Leigh, the core business beliefs will stay the same but he and his team will continue to provide a fun, urban and contemporary vibe.
The wine list has a smattering of local wines from wineries such as a Lightfoot and Son’s and Narkoojee, as well as an interesting range of
Australian and imported wines.
Some exciting things are coming to Big Spoon Little Spoon in 2015 such as a monthly ‘pop up’ dinner series, allowing the chef and the team to show their diversity and skills in the kitchen.
