Gardivalia Festival of Gardens

Established in 2006, the Gardivalia festival is designed to showcase the many beautiful gardens in West Gippsland and to encourage visitors to the area. The gardens are open from 10am-4pm in the month of October, and the festival will feature open gardens, food gardens, garden tours, and a myriad of other wonderful events on offer for young and old.

Cycle with the family through the open gardens with the Tour de Jardin. This self guided tour travels on roads regularly used by cyclists, beginning at the velodrome taking in a circuit of several open gardens through Bona Vista, onto Lillico and back into Warragul. Tour de Jardin takes place Saturday October 18, meet at the Storytime Garden. This is a free event but garden admission must be paid.
Taste your way through this year’s festival and take a guided tour of the Peppermint Ridge Farm bush food garden. Featuring Australian spices and bush foods which feature in the refreshments as well as an extensive low water vegetable garden, orchard and plenty of free range hens. Peppermint Ridge Farm is only 30 minutes from Warragul at 540 Tynong North Road, Tynong North. Open Saturday 25-Sunday 26 October.
For the creatives out there, a linocut workshop will be held during the festival at The Station Gallery, Yarragon. Create a small edition of prints in this workshop with Helen Timbury, using the reduction technique, in which a multicoloured print is made with the use of a single block. Through a series of progressive cuttings, inkings, and printings, the images slowly emerges. Bookings are essential. Workshop cost $60. Thursday October 2 from 10am-3:30pm. There is plenty happening this year in the 2014 Garvivalida Festival in West Gippsland. From the open gardens, artistic workshops, farmers markets and exhibitions, the festival will be a wonderful event to experience this spring.
